Nkhata Bay, January 17, Mana: Police in Nkhata Bay District, have arrested a 40-year-old man for allegedly having sexual intercourse with his 15-year-old biological daughter.

Nkhata Bay Police spokesperson, Kondwani James identified the man as Gilavu Banda, who had been living with the girl following his divorce from her mother.

“On January 16, 2025 the girl told her teacher that she was pregnant, mentioning her father as the one who impregnated her.

"She added that he has been having unprotected sexual intercourse forcefully with her since September, 2024,” he said.

According to James, the the teacher reported the matter to a Mother Support Group which further reported the same to Nkhata Bay Police Station.

James said the suspect has been charged with two counts of having sexual intercourse with a child and incest.

Banda hails from Mtilirwa Village in the area of Senior Chief Mkumbira in Nkhata Bay District.
