Super league heats up: Kamau applauds intensity Featured

Lilongwe, 17 June, Mana: Analyst Matthews Kimu Kamau has described the 2025 TNM Super League as “unpredictably intense” and “one of the fiercest and most professional campaigns” in recent memory.

His praise comes after a high-stakes Week 10, which demonstrated just how competitive the league has become.

In an interview on Monday, Kamau said the league has transformed into a battleground, with no club able to take points for granted as performances become more tactical and aggressive.

Kamau singled out FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, Mighty Wanderers, Ekhaya FC, and Silver Strikers as leading the charge, praising their hunger, discipline, and tactical maturity each time they take the field.

"There’s a great level of professionalism being exhibited on the pitch this season. The top clubs look more aggressive and structured. You can’t just show up and expect free three points anymore,” said Kamau.

Meanwhile, Kamau also credited referees and supporters, saying there has been a noticeable improvement in officiating and fan engagement this season. However, he warned teams like Songwe Border FC, Chitipa United, and Mzuzu City Hammers to take bold steps to improve and maintain their presence in the top-flight league.

"Teams like Songwe Border FC must act. I get that times are tough financially, but you need new legs, fresh energy. One or two good signings can change your entire season,” he added.

According to the fixture released by the Super League of Malawi (SULOM), Week 11 starts Saturday, June 21, with Chitipa United vs. Kamuzu Barracks and Blue Eagles vs. Mafco. On Sunday, June 22, Mzuzu City Hammers face Ekhaya, Wanderers host Dedza Dynamos.

Midweek action returns Wednesday, June 25 as Silver Strikers play Karonga United, Bullets host Moyale FC, Chitipa face Songwe United, and Civil Service battle Creck SC, and each game kicks off at 2:30 PM.

The results from the week 10 of the 2025 TNM Super League, played on June 15, delivered drama across the board whereby Mighty Wanderers dominated Kamuzu Barracks 3-0 with goals from Gaddie Chirwa, Blessings Singini, and Wisdom Mpinganjira. FCB Nyasa Big Bullets struck late to beat Mighty Tigers 2-0, thanks to Hassan Kajoke and Babatunde Adepoju.

Dedza Dynamos cruised past Songwe United 3-0 with a brace from Gift Magola and one from Tayani Phiri. Karonga United saw off Mzuzu City Hammers 2-0, while Moyale Barracks and Chitipa United played to a goalless draw. At Nankhaka, Silver Strikers denied Blue Eagles all three points with a 90+5’ equalizer from Zebron Kalima, cancelling out Laurent Banda’s earlier goal.
